Ok, so I was at the store today picking up dinner, when there was a lady standing in front of it with a big fat sign saying "feed the homeless kids". Now, just out pure curiosity, I approached her, thinking "what homeless kids, where"? As I was trying to inquire, she handed me a pamphlet, which was asking "us" to donate money to another country to "help" feed the homeless, hungry kids. Now, I'm all for helping, but this really irked me. I asked her "what about OUR kids here"? She had no answer. Of course she was answerless, she wasn't representing. Not that I have anything against other countries at all, but I do have a thing against "us" ignoring our own issues and so "ready" to fix other peoples. I have seen hungry, homeless kids HERE. I have seen parents with no hot water and heat HERE. I have seen people who can't take showers and baths HERE because they can't afford the oil bill. I have seen kids in orphanages HERE, waiting to be loved and adopted HERE. We are so willing and able to ignore OURS. It is a sickening thing when feeding other countries kids is broadcasted all over your tv, but yet, we can't figure out how to feed our own. " It costs less than a dollar a day", Ya, well that money can be spent on an outfit for a child in a group home, whose clothes have been donated it's entire life..HERE...Group homes of children waiting to be adopted ...HERE....Let's help fix our own problems and then start working on others..I'm a big child advocate for children in the U.S. and believe it or not, I HAVE practiced what I preach. The United States government raised me.......in a group home...my seeing the aspects from the inside has made me do something from the outside..Loving kids that I haven't birthed. If
this moved you at all, I have a full page of donation sites and
